Preservation of the jewellery

All jewelry can be worn and scratched on exposed areas, e.g. when in contact with other jewelry. To keep them beautiful for the longest time possible, we recommend you to:

• take off the jewelry prior to sleep, showering, sports or other activities that can cause scratches on the jewelry.
• store the jewelry protected from light when not in use, to prevent discoloration.
• keep the jewelry away from perfume, hair spray, chlorinated water or other chemicals.
• take the beads off the jewelry, if you do not use them for periods of time, to prevent the plastics from” tiring”.

The thoughts behind BAEKKE

The sustainable jewelery in the BAEKKE series is basic jewelery that you can have for many years – perhaps even for the rest of your life. The jewelery has been designed and brought into the world based on several sustainability principles (read about the principles UsMeUs works with here).

With the beads you can design the jewelry and change their appearance according to your wishes and outfit. You can buy more beads in other colors as needed.

The series consists of bracelets, pendants for necklaces and hoops, ear studs and chain earrings.

Brass

Brass oxidises in time (becomes brownish and maybe matte), so it needs to be polished. It contains copper, which may cause a dark shadow on the skin – this is not dangerous and can be washed off. Acid, sweat and salt enhances this process. 

Brass can get scratched at exposed areas, e.g. by contact with other jewelry. We recommend you to take off your jewelry while sleeping, exercising or engaging in other activity that can scratch it.

Our jewelry are made of highpolished brass of the best quality.

BAEKKE jewelry in BRASS:

• Bracelets in the sizes: Small, Medium and Large
• Pendant for hoop in the lengths: 25 mm and 45 mm
• Pendant for necklace in the lengths: 25 mm and 45 mm

Cleaning

The brass jewelry can of course be polished, e.g. with liquid brass polish, a “dry” jewelry polishing cloth or as a quick fix; with lemon juice. Remember to rinse the jewelry well afterwards.

Goldplated brass or silver

Goldplating is a very thin surface treatment (3 micron), which can be worn off at exposed areas that are in contact with e.g. other jewelry.

To keep the gold-plating intact for as long as possible, we recommend taking off jewelry, while sleeping, exercising, swimming, bathing and sun bathing. Also avoid, that the jewelry comes into contact with perfume, hairspray, chlorine and other chemicals.

Goldplating: 3 micron 18 carat gold.

Cleaning

The jewelry made of gold-plated brass and silver can be cleaned with advantage in the jewel clean for gold jewelry, in which the jewelry is immersed. Follow the instructions on the package. Remember to rinse the jewelry well afterwards. There are also polishing cloths specially developed for gold.

Silver

Silver can become darker over time – if so, carefully clean it in warm water with soap and a soft brush. Rinse the item carefully afterwards.

Silver should be kept protected from light to avoid staining. Silver is a relatively soft metal and can get scratched on exposed areas in contact with e.g. other jewelry.

We also recommend to take off jewelry while sleeping, exercising or engaging in other activity that can scratch it.

Our Silver jewelry is made from Sterling Silver 925.

Cleaning

As mentioned above, silver jewelry can carefully be cleaned it in warm water with soap and a soft brush. The silver jewelry can of course also be polished, e.g. with liquid silver polish, a “dry” jewelry polishing cloth or as a quick fix; with lemon juice. Remember to rinse the jewelry well afterwards.

Plastic

The beads are made of recyclable plastic (polyethylene/PE).

We recommend that you take the beads off the jewelry, if you do not use them for periods of time, to prevent the plastics from” tiring”.

Cleaning

The plastic pearls can be placed in lukewarm water with a little dish washing liquid and wash gently with a soft brush or sponge.
